Play Ball

Christopher Fleming’s Play Ball!  was premiered by Dayton Ballet in 1999 to rave reviews and then revived it in 2002  due to overwhelming audience requests.  In 2009, it received even more enthusiastic reviews.

Play Ball! is a fun nine-inning ballet that pays homage to traditional all-American baseball and honors the men and women who dedicated their lives to the sport. Your audience will love this humorous ballet where its the Bulls vs. the Dolls
includes audience participation, announcers and even a little love story.

“I see great things in baseball.  It’s our game…the American game.  Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms…The game of baseball is glorious.”  -Walt Whitman, 1946

A Streetcar Named Desire

  streetcard

Based on the landmark Tennessee Williams play, Karen Russo Burke’s A Streetcar Named Desire was called “A Triumph…” and a “…feat of creativity,” by Dayton Daily News arts critic, Terry Morris, in 2008.  Streetcar is a dramatic ballet that highlights dancers acting abilities as well as dance. Sokol’s  score adds a warm, lazy New-Orleans feel to the ballet and follows the movement of the choreography to a T.

Permission to utilize A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE material by arrangement with The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee.
